Closing event of my Cyclades exhibition at the Adnan Saygun Arts Center in Izmir, Turkey
The closing event of my 'Discovering The Beauty Of The Cyclades' exhibition at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Sanat Arts Center (AASSM) in Izmir, Turkey, organised by the Consulate General of Greece in Izmir in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality took place on the 17th March 2022, with official support from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports together with the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades in the use of the video ‘The Secrets of the Episkopi of Sikinos’ which accompanied the project’s centrepiece photo ‘Lost Lady of Sikinos, Neiko’.
The cocktail event was attended by Consul General D. Balkiza of the Consulate General of Greece in Izmir, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Chairman of the Parliament of the European Union Assembly and Foreign Relations Commission Prof. Dr. Sudt Çağlayan, the Italian Consul in Izmir Valerio Giorgio, the Federal Consul General of Germany Dr. Detlev Wolter, İzmir Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Naciye Gökçen Kaya, İKSEV President Filiz Eczacıbaşı Sarper, Honorary Consuls and well-known names of the society attended.

Many thanks to Kosmos Visa Services for their sponsorship of the exhibition, the closing event and also my international travel to Izmir, which included a very comfortable stay at the impressive Renaissance Izmir Hotel. The Deluxe Room couldn’t have been quieter, while the gym offered a great selection of equipment for my 6:30 a.m. workouts; breakfast afterwards on the 8th floor, with seaward and cityscape views, was simply amazing. I appreciated General Manager Mr Oguz Eruygun’s creative gesture and kind, welcoming words. It was a pleasure to meet Mr Volkan Dinc and Mr Ahmet Taskiran, managers of the hotel, at the exhibition’s closing event.
All available time during my stay was spent exploring on foot, a very enjoyable experience. It genuinely was a pleasure to be back in Izmir and Turkey after many years.
